Water Rates

Who pays Water Rates?

All non Domestic water users pay water rates.

Types of charges

There are two types - metered and non metered.  If you have a metered connection a Caretaker will take a reading from your meter. At present, this is done twice a year, and you will be sent a bill from your Local Authority.

Charges for Metered Water Supplies

€6.45 per 1000 gallons (€1.42 per 1000 litres)

Standing Charge is €46.50 per 6 months.

Charges for Non Metered Water Supplies

Category 1 -  €385 -  Public Buildings, Offices, Shop, Hall, Cinemas, Dentists, Surgeries, Chemist, Butchers, Garda Stations, Health Centres, Financial Institutions and Bed and Breakfasts and any other non domestic activity with minimum usage.

Category 2  - €533.50 - Factories, Barbers, Hair Salons, Garages, Field connections.

Category 3 -  €720.50. - Licence Premises, Slaughter Houses, Nurseries, Creameries, Restaurants, Commercial Gardens, Launderettes, Bottle Washing Plants, Garages with Car Washing facilities, Farm Wintering Units, Quarry works, Community Centres.

You will receive a bill from your Local Authority.

At present Meath County Council are implementling the Water Pricing Policy.  Following the implementation of this policy all non-domestic users who are curently being charged a fixed amount will have a meter installed and will be charged based on consumption.  This is considered to be a fairer way of charging for non-domestic water.

Waste Water Charges

Charges for Metered Waste Water

Waste water charges only apply  if you are connected to the council's sewerage system. 

€5.60 per 1000 gallons (€1.23 per 1000 litres) - based on water in  - water out policy.   

Charges for Fixed Waste Water

Category 1 - €262

Category 2 - €392

Category 3 - €579.

Categories 1,2, and 3 are the same as above.

How To pay

Direct Debit

You can pay by direct debit. You simply complete the direct debit form supplied with your water bill, and send to your Local Authority Office.

Payments Cards

You can pay at any Post Office or PayPoint outlet.

Cash Desk

You can pay at the cash desk at your Local Authority office.

Cheque

You can send a cheque to your Local Authority office.

Laser or Credit Card

Telephone your Local Authority office  to pay by laser or credit card.

Selling Your premises

You must contact your Local Authority and they will arrange to send out a caretaker to take final reading. 

Non Payment of Water Rates

Failure to pay by the specified period will result in a disconnection.
