Knockharley Community Grants Scheme

(A) Knockharley Community Grant Scheme-2011


Meath County Council and the Knockharley Landfill Community Liaison Committee invites applications, under its Environmental Community Projects & Works Grants Scheme 2011, towards grants for the development of environmental community projects and works in the locality of Kentstown and Knockharley District.

This scheme is funded from the proceeds of a levy on the Knockharley Landfill Facility operated by Greenstar Ltd.
Projects which show a combination of a range of guaranteed funding mechanisms such as local sponsorship, lottery funding, Leader funding, Enterprise funding etc., will be particularly encouraged.

Grants of up to 60% of the cost of capital expenditure per project may be available.

Who may apply for the Knockharley Community Grant Scheme?

Community groups and organisations within the Kentstown and Knockharley District.

Examples of projects eligible for funding are:
-Amenity areas
-Walking areas
-Community halls and resource centres
-Community arts projects
-Recreational facilities
-Local heritage projects.

(B) Knockharley Small Grant Scheme-2011

Following a review of the scheme in 2008 the Knockharley Landfill Community Liaison Committee in partnership with Meath County Council developed a small scheme which will run in conjunction (A) Knockharley Community Grant Scheme.

The new scheme titled the ‘Knockharley Small Grant Scheme’ was devised for the provision of environmental improvements to properties in the general vicinity of the Knockharley Landfill Site.

Who may apply for the Knockharley Small Grant Scheme?

Householders living within the vicinity of the Knockharley landfill site as per map below may apply.
Note that there are three phases of the scheme; 2009, 2010 and 2011 and only householders living within the designated area may apply within any one year.


Knockharley Small Grant Scheme Area

The following are the projects eligible for grant applications under the Small Grant scheme in 2011:


Example of Project Max. Grant.
Improvement and upgrading of existing landscaping, -------------€1,500
Installation of improved Attic and Wall insulation, ----------------€2,000
Provision of double glazing windows and doors;---------------- €2,000
Upgrading and improvement of existing -
Wastewater Treatment Systems;-------------------------------€2,000
Installation of Wood Pellet or Chip Boiler,  ---------------------- €2,000
Installation of Solar Panels,     ----------------------------------- €2,000

Note: A grant application in any year is subject to a maximum of 2 projects per household which shall be prioritised by the order of preference 1 and 2.

Application forms and further details are available from the Planning & Community Department on 046 9097400 or can be downloaded below. Please note that you MUST download the map below as part of the Knockharley Small Grant Scheme application form 2011 and send with your application.

Closing date for receipt of completed application forms is 4:30pm on Friday 9th September 2011.
