Bealtaine is the May-time festival celebrating creativity in older age. The Library has organised the following free events for the festival. Some events have limited spaces so please leave your name at the library if you wish to attend any of these events:

Toradh Gallery Exhibition
Annual Bealtaine Exhibition from local artists.

Meet the Composer – Bach
Wednesday 17th May 11am. Musical Memories & Interactive music performances with the National Concert hall. Sponsored by Meath County Council Arts Office.

The Big Book Quiz
Wednesday 10th May 7pm at the Solstice Arts Centre Navan Calling all book clubs, send a team of 4 for our first Bealtaine book quiz. Call Navan Library on 0469021134 to book your team.

Schools Event - Emma Donoghue
Author Emma Donoghue will be visiting the library to talk to local schoolchildren about her new children’s book ‘The Lotterys plus one’

Ciorcal Gaeilge
Tuesday mornings 11am – 12pm Weekly Irish Conversation Circle, beginners welcome. Ask at the desk for details.

Failte Isteach – Learn English Workshops

1916 & World War One Collection
Ashbourne Local History Society have donated a collection of their World War One and 1916 material. This collection is available for loan and is on display in the history section of the library   Music Appreciation Club Every Wednesday morning 11am – 12.30pm. No club on 19th April. Come along and join this informal club, which explores aspects of classical music, traditional Irish music and popular musicals. New members welcome. Refreshments provided. Comhrá Group

Over 55’s Exercise Class

Beginners adult English Classes
Tuesdays 6pm – 7.30pm. A 12 week course for Polish beginners and intermediate learners of English. There is a fee of €10 per class. Contact Agatha on 0894111580 for details.

Angel Meditation Classes

Parent & Baby Room
We have a relaxing parent & baby room, including a nappy changing unit, bottle warmer, parent magazines and a CD player for relaxing music. Ask at the desk if you wish to use the room.

Parent & Toddler Group Announcement
The group are looking for volunteers to help setting up the group on a Tuesday or Thursday in September. Please leave your name at the library desk if interested.

Parent & Toddler Group
This runs term time only. Tuesday & Thursday mornings between 10am – 12pm. Bring your child along for games & activities. There is a charge of €2 per morning. On Tuesdays there is also a free stories and songs session with Mary our Librarian, which begins at 11.45am. Ask at the desk for details.

Stories and Songs for the under 6s
Every Tuesday 11.45am – 12.15pm Come along for stories and songs with Mary. No booking required.

Children’s Book Clubs ages 10 – 13 years
First Thursday of the month. Book to discuss: ‘Awful auntie’ by David Walliams.  

Children’s Book Club Ages 8 – 10 years
Third Friday of the Month: 21st April 4pm – 5pm. Places available. Book to discuss: ‘The great ice cream heist’ by Elen Caldecott..

Lego Clubs for Kids

Gymboree Play & Music Classes
Every Friday Morning Music 1 (ages 6 - 16 mths) @ 10am Music 2 (ages 16mths - 5 yrs) @ 11am Gymboree is recognised as a world leader in Music classes for young children. Baby Massage Course

Centre for Russian Culture Workshops

Ashbourne Young Adult Scout Group

Coderdojo Club
Coderdojo is a global collaboration providing free and open learning to young people, especially in programming technology 6th & 20th May. Ages 7—14 years. Book your place for each session via the Ashbourne Coderdojo facebook page. Like the page and leave a message that you wish to attend. All children need a laptop with the ‘Scratch' 2.0 offline editor' ’ programme downloaded from the MIT Scratch website. Parents must attend with their children.

Student Study
Please note that due to the demand for quiet study space, upstairs space is available for Leaving Cert. and College exam study, ask for details at the desk, due to one off events some of these quiet times may vary. Students are welcome to use the spaces at other times but have to bear in mind as a community library, other events may be running.
