Derelict Site Improvement Project
Background Information
Derelict sites can be a common problem for community groups attempting to enhance the beauty of their area. Meath County Council has developed this initiative specifically to assist groups who encounter this difficulty.
This category rewards groups or individuals that enhance the visual beauty of a disused site. This may be through the use of
- Trees,
- Flowers and shrub planting
- Painting
- or by any other appropriate means.
There is one strict rule in this competition and that is the group must not be the owner of the derelict site. In addition the judges will only consider the projects of groups who have obtained the consent of the owner of the site for the enhancement work to take place.
Meath County Council is committed to taking any derelict site owner to task if they are in breach of either the waste or litter legislation in relation to the upkeep of their properties.
