Meath County Council's Anti Litter League 2007

The residents of Dunderry had a lot to celebrate on Wednesday evening last when they scooped the overall prize in the Meath County Council Anti Litter League 2007. The village had also come top in their category of villages with populations up to 500.

The Anti Litter League had been running for 8 weeks during March and April and areas were judged on litter every fortnight. Over 90 tidy towns and residents associations throughout County Meath took part in Meath County Council's Anti Litter League 2007. The winners were announced at an awards ceremony in the Newgrange Hotel on Wednesday 9th May 2007.

The leas Cathaoirleach of Meath County Council, Councillor Tom Kelly congratulated the winners and paid tribute to the 300 strong crowd of community groups and residents associations who volunteered their free time in enhancing their areas throughout the county.

Minister Noel Dempsey TD was also in attendance and praised the groups for their committment and enthusiasm in Meath County Council programmes such as the Anti Litter League and the Pride of Place initiatives.

The County Manager, Mr Tom Dowling thanked all of the guests for their continued hard work and assured them of the Councils on-going efforts to crack down on those who litter and make their work all the more difficult.
