Competition Results

Background Information

This exciting competition aims to encourage and assist community groups and individuals to enhance their local environment.

This might be through the use of:

  • flowers,
  • colour,
  • shrubs,
  • sunny window boxes,
  • breezy hanging baskets,
  • blossom filled borders and pots
  • and a myriad of other exotic garden ideas.

Ardee Road, Castletown
Over time the planting and development will enhance and compliment the beauty of our built environment – streets, squares, parks and roadways. Every little bit we do throughout this competition should be done in such a way that it contributes to our enjoyment of our own places – and leaves our mark on the landscape that can be enjoyed by the next generation.

Categories and Prizes

Several categories have been included so as to reward all participants including:

  • Centres with population up to 500
  • Centres with population from 501-1000
  • Centres with population from 1001-2000
  • Centres with population over 2000
  • Most Community Effort & Involvement
  • Best Approach Road
  • Best Apartment Complex
  • Best Buildings: Public / Hospitality / Commercial
  • Best Youth Project
  • Best Overall Housing Estates Awards in Meath  

There will be several other prizes as well as a substantial 'Cathaoirleach's Prize', that will be awarded to an area where a lot of hard work has gone in to improving the area.

Moynalty

Assistance from Meath County Council

All groups wishing to take part in this competition can attend a gardening workshop arranged by Meath County Council. The workshops will be held in Warrenstown College on Saturday 16th May 2009.

In addition Meath County Council will retain an experienced gardener to give hands-on assistance to participating groups throughout the competition. Meath County Council staff will also be delighted to meet with you to help get your group started.
