Guth Gafa International Documentary Festival - Call for submissions
Date Released: 06 August 2015
Guth Gafa International Documentary Festival announces new 'Made in Louth/Meath' strand for this year's festival.
The Guth Gafa International Documentary Festival is a multi award-winning film festival showcasing the best documentaries in the world (on the themes of human rights, the environment and social issues) to Irish audiences, along with inviting directors of selected films to present their work and to take part in Q&As, discussion, debates and masterclasses.
This year, Guth Gafa has moved completely to Meath (last year it was in both Donegal/Meath) and to celebrate the festival's move to Meath, a special 'Made in Louth/Meath' strand will be programmed this year and the festival is also calling for filmmakers working in the counties of Louth & Meath to submit their documentaries for consideration for this strand, which may also include shorts.
Again, Guth Gafa will accept any documentaries on any human rights, social action and environmental issue subjects, completed since January 2014 by a filmmaker(s) working in the Louth/Meath area (or a film by an Irish filmmaker that was shot in the Louth/Meath area) and that have not yet been broadcast. Submission is completely free and online and the submission form can be accessed at this link - https://goo.gl/GRhx2F – open till midnight 22nd August.
The Irish program is a critical part of Guth Gafa's success. Every year we show award-winning docs from around the world, and the international directors are usually in attendance to present their work, and yet it is the Irish docs that always sell out first, and these are the films that many of our audience, including international visitors, want to see.
Guth Gafa is now recognized on the international circuit as a festival that should not be missed, so the profile of our program is high. We look forward to receiving work from Irish filmmakers, working in Louth/Meath,or who have shot recently in Louth/Meath, for consideration for this year's festival.
