Faces of Trim Art Exhibition 4th – 6th September 2015.

The “Faces of Trim” Art Exhibition by James McQuade a sixteen year old transition year student from Trim, County Meath opens on Friday 4th September 2015 at 7.30pm and runs until Sunday 6th September 2015, opening daily between 10am-8pm in St. Patrick’s Parochial Hall, Trim.

This will be the young artist’s first exhibition and will consist of some thirty five framed portraits drawn in pencil and charcoal of well known “faces” of Trim such as Ray Butler T.D, Thomas Potterton Estate Agent, Thomas Lenihan of James Griffin public house, C.J Murtagh of Ted Murtagh’s Sports Shop, Pearse Murphy of Trim Hardware and DIY, Declan Coogan Butcher, Pat O’Byrne of Pat O’Byrne Menswear, Martina Quinn Montessori Teacher and Mrs. Maureen Dempsey. Many other well-known faces from the religious, educational, commercial and legal profession very kindly offered themselves as subjects all of whom were first photographed and then drawn by James.

In addition the exhibition will feature many other highly recognisable “ordinary” citizens of the town who, whilst they might not consider themselves “faces of Trim” are undoubtedly very well known by their fellow citizens.

All of the works will be on sale and available for collection after the exhibition closes. The subjects will of course be offered first refusal of their own portrait. A limited number of prints will also be available for any of the more popular works.

Some of the portraits which have already been completed have been highly praised by those local townspeople who have had an opportunity to view them. Trim Hardware & DIY Pearse Murphy’s portrait has already drawn particular acclamation for its likeness and for capturing Pearse’s unique personality. Many of the works can be viewed on James’s Face Book page at James McQuade Art.

James has also produced a 2016 calendar featuring his portraits and this will be on sale at the exhibition.

It is hoped that the local community will come to the exhibition, enjoy the portraits and have some fun in identifying their friends, neighbours and fellow citizens. In the future the exhibition will provide a snap shot in time of the faces of Trim, or perhaps for others, will simply put a name to an interesting face who at times we simply can’t place!
