A Music in Healthcare training programme for musicians in Co. Meath - Open information evening - 22nd Sept at 7pm in the Ardboyne Hotel

Meath County Council Arts Office is delighted to announce, in partnership with 'Training Notes', a new Introductory Music and Healthcare training initiative for musicians living in Meath
This training will be delivered by qualified facilitators from Kids’ Classics who have trained in Music and Healthcare with Music et Santé in Paris and who have both national and international experience. The overall objective of this training is to develop the skills set and best practice necessary for musicians to deliver quality interactions in hospitals and nursing homes and is suitable to musicians wishing to develop new project and employment opportunities.
Programme Objectives:
- Understanding the role of a musician and the appropriate placement of music in a healthcare setting.
- Exploring the skill set and best practice methods necessary to deliver quality interactions in hospitals and nursing homes.
Programme Content:
- The approach and methods required for successful musical interations in hospital and care home environments
- Vocal and instrumental repertoire, rhythm and improvisation.
- Challenges of working in a team within a clinical space
- Ethics and confidentiality
- Practical music placements in local healthcare settings
Programme Requirements:
- Good instrumental ability in any genre
- Portable musical instrument
- Willingness to use voice
- Commitment to develop your skills via group learning, repertoire building, reflective practice
- Ability to attend 4 x 2 weekday sessions over the duration of the 6 month mentoring scheme. (Nov, Jan, Mar, May)
