Meath County Council presents Songschool - for 13-17 year olds this mid-term break

Date Released: 08 February 2017

Songschool – 3 Day Music Course for Young People.

Meath County Council Arts Office and Createschool are delighted to announce Songschool. This three day music making project will take place during the mid-term break, Feb 20th – 22nd for young people aged 13 - 17 years. The project aims to enhance and develop the creative potential of young people in Meath and also offers them a showcase event to present their work. No previous experience is necessary, just some creative ideas and enthusiasm required!

At Songschool, young people will get the opportunity to work closely with professional musicians to explore song writing, composition, recording and performing while using devices that they are familiar with or have easy access to. This will ensure that they can continue their song writing and recording long after the project is completed. There will be a performance of the songs created on Wednesday 22nd at 6.30pm for friends and families.

Createschool is a long established creative force in digital media. Their workshops focus on creative collaboration, idea generation, creative expression and creative use of mobile technology.

Songschool runs each day from February 20th – 22nd, 10am – 4pm, at the Old Courthouse/ Heritage Centre, Kells Cost is €25 for three day course, and places are limited so booking is essential.
