'Exile' is a series of serigraphs on canvas.
Shay Culligan, originally from Navan, studied at Dublin's National College of Art and Design during the 1980's.
He emigrated to America in 1992 and in 1993 he enrolled at Boston's Massachusetts College of Art, graduating with his BFA in 1998.
Originally a painter in oils, Shay has exhibited his portraits and landscapes in Ireland and America. Since 2002 he has specialised in serigraphy, screen printing his photographs onto various media including canvas, board and card.
His art is often personal and occasionally political, but whatever the subject matter, he always adheres to old fashioned visual principles of strong composition, compelling use of colour and constant experimentation.
