Flood Plans - The Draft FRMPs are now being published for consultation on a rolling basis and we would encourage you to review them and to make a submission setting out your views on the Draft Plans

Date Released: 15 July 2016

Flood Plans

The Office of Public Works (OPW), as lead agency for flood risk management in Ireland, is producing Flood Risk Management Plans (FRMPs), in line with the National Flood Policy (2004) and the requirements of the EU 'Floods' Directive.

Draft FRMPs are currently being produced by the OPW and its partners under the Catchment-based Flood Risk Assessment and Management (CFRAM) Programme.

The Draft FRMPs make use of the information provided through the flood maps that have previously been produced under the CFRAM Programme and previous and parallel projects, and that were consulted upon in late 2015.

The Draft FRMPs set out a range of proposed measures and actions to manage and reduce flood risk within the catchments and coastal reaches covered by each Draft Plan, focussing on the 300 areas of potentially significant flood risk around Ireland that were previously identified under the Preliminary Flood Risk Assessment (PFRA).

The Draft FRMPs are now being published for consultation on a rolling basis and we would encourage you to review them and to make a submission setting out your views on the Draft Plans and on the questions being asked as part of the consultation.

The Draft FRMPs will be available in the principal offices of each Local Authority and also on-line to view and/or download.
