Timoole Remediation - Update 30th November 2017 - Stream Culverting, Reduced Emissions, CCTV Cameras

Date Released: 30 November 2017

Stream Culverting

Culverting of the stream has commenced, the concrete pipes are lined up and ready for placement in the stream bed.

 Stream Culverting Progression

Culverting of the stream is progressing well, the stream is blocked as it enters the site and the water over-pumped to a point just downstream of the pipes. The reason for culverting the stream is to prevent any shock loading of leachates to surface waters as the waste is removed. On completion of the works the culvert pipes will be removed. Inland Fisheries Ireland (IFI) were consulted prior to the works and the contractor will stay in regular contact as the works progress.

 Reduced Emissions

Wherever possible on construction projects efforts are made to have a positive effect on climate action. Priority Construction Limited have a number of hybrid excavators, approximately 1/3 of their excavator stock are hybrids, this means a reduction in the use of fossil fuels (approximately 40 %) and reduced emissions which is good news for the environment.

 CCTV Cameras

CCTV cameras have been installed on site as part of the site security works
