Age Friendly County - Walk-ability Audit of Slane Village - Meath is an Age Friendly County and as life expectancy increases, the need to ensure that our county becomes a great place in which to grow old in is increasing too.

Date Released: 13 February 2018

Meath is an Age Friendly County and as life expectancy increases, the need to ensure that our county becomes a great place in which to grow old in is increasing too. Therefore we must be ready to face the challenges that this will bring to society.

It is recognised that where we live, the physical, social and cultural environment impacts hugely on how we live. An Age Friendly county is a place where more older persons can stay living in their own homes and communities lead healthy and active lives, go where they want to and be valued contributors to their communities.

Meath County Council, together with its partners on the Age Friendly committee, is committed in the continued development of their communities both rural and urban.

Meath County Council recently carried out a walk-ability audit of Slane village with volunteers from Slane forum under the Age Friendly County programme to ensure our environment and infrastructure is safe for our Older Persons when out and about.
