Traffic / Roads Update - Kells One Way System - Trial - Meath County Council is proposing to introduce a One-Way System for a trial period of six weeks in the Town Centre of Kells

Meath County Council is proposing to introduce a One-Way System for a trial period of six weeks in the Town Centre of Kells. The planned one-way system is shown on the attached maps. The One-Way System Trial is to be undertaken in two phases as follows;
Phase 1: 5 Weeks, Cross St. Open
13th August 2016 – 16th September 2016 inclusive.
Phase 2: 1 Week, Cross St. Closed
17th September 2016 – 23rd September 2016 inclusive.
The streets which form part of the one-way system trial are as follows:

New Market Street One-way westbound One-way westbound
Church Street One-way northbound One-way northbound
Market Street One-way eastbound One-way eastbound
John Street One-way eastbound One-way eastbound
Cross Street One-way northbound Closed / Pedestrianised
Five junctions will be directly affected by the proposed One-Way System and these are:
Junction A - Headfort Place / Kenlis Place / John St.
Junction B - Kenlis Place / Farrell St. / New Market St. / Cross St.
Junction C – New Market St. / Suffolk St. / Cannon St. / Church St.
Junction D - Church Street / Church Hill / Market Street
Junction E - Market Street / Castle St. / John St. / Cross St.
The works at these junctions will consist of the installation and maintenance of;
temporary traffic islands,
temporary road studs,
temporary road markings
temporary traffic signs and,
temporary signposting.
Signage will be in place and road users are asked to drive with caution during the trial period.
