Citizenship
Everyone is entitled to apply for entry onto the voting Register, however, a person’s citizenship determines which elections they may vote in.
- Irish citizens may vote at all elections/referenda.
- British citizens may vote at Dáil, European and Local elections only and are denoted on the Register with a ‘D’ beside their name.
- Other EU citizens may vote at European and Local elections only and are denoted on the Register with an ‘E’ beside their name.
- Non-EU citizens may vote at Local elections only and are denoted on the Register with an ‘L’ beside their name.
