Mortgage Allowance
If you are a tenant or tenant purchaser of a Local Authority house and returning your existing house to the Local Authority, and taking out a mortgage of at least € 38,092 to purchase or build a house for yourself, you may qualify for Mortgage Allowance.
The Mortgage Allowance is € 11,450 paid on a reducing basis over 5 years and is designed to ease the transition from rent to mortgage. The allowance is paid directly to the mortgage lender.
The allowance is also available if you are a tenant of more than one year of a house provided by a Voluntary Housing Body returning your existing house to the body.
If you are buying a house under the Shared Ownership Scheme you are not eligible for the Mortgage Allowance Scheme.
How to Apply
Please print out and complete the Mortgage Allowance Form and send to Housing Section, Meath County Council, County Hall, Navan, Co. Meath.
