National Tree Week 2010 - National Tree Week will take place from March 7th to March 13th 2010.
Date Released: 17 February 2010
Cllr. William Carey, Cathaoirleach, Meath Co Co planted a Rowan tree to mark National tree week in the Scaruppa Memorial Park. The park marks the site of a burial ground which was uncovered during the excavation for the M4 Motorway. It is being maintained as a permanent natural grassland with trees and native meadow and hedgerow flowers and plants. The planting ceremony was attended by members of Enfield Environment Group and by Peter Brady, Environment Section, Meath Co Council. The site was chosen for the ceremonial planting for its historical and environmental significance. Peter Brady also presented a number of saplings on behalf of the Cathaoirleach to Enfield Environment group for planting in the locality.
You might consider taking a walk in one of the many amenities in Meath during this week and enjoy the many varieties of trees----Balrath Woods (near Kentstown), Dalgan Park (Navan), Littlewoods in Slane (on Collon Road), Ramparts in Navan, Loughcrew Gardens in Oldcastle, Canal Walk in Enfield.
