Pre-Planning Clinics

Pre-Planning Clinics/Meetings

Meath County Council hold on-going pre-planning meetings both commercial (business) and one-off houses to provide advice to persons intending to apply for planning permission. They are held every second Wednesday and every fourth Wednesday of each month. 

Persons wishing to avail of this service are advised to submit the required information listed below at least 10 days before appointment. On receipt of correct information applicants will be issued an appointment time to meet with a planner to discuss their proposals.

Requirements for One-Off Houses or Domestic Extentions only

  • To complete Pre-Planning Questionaire   of 6 questions (stating on question 6 if you are the owner of the property/land). If not you will need to submit a letter of consent from landowner as stated below.
     
  • Complete a  Local Needs Form. This form is to demonstrate the proposed applicants, family, social and functional ties with the area where the site is located (if applicable).
  • A site location map to a scale of 1:2500 with the site and the full holding from which it is taken clearly marked thereon. Further information on ordnance survey maps can be found on the Ordnance Survey Ireland website at the following link: www.osi.ie. (A Google map is not sufficient for pre-planning purposes)
  • Letter of consent from the land owner if the applicant does not own the land in question
  • Any other information which the proposed applicant deems relevant in support of their proposals.

All of the information which applies to either clinic is REQUIRED before a date for a pre-planning meeting can be issued to the applicant. This information is required by the planner prior to the meeting taking place. ONLY on receipt of the correct information can we then send you out an appointment time for our next available clinic.

Requirements for Commercial Clinic only

  • To submit FULL PROPOSAL in DETAIL of what you intend to apply for planning permission 
  • A site location map to a scale of 1:2500 with the site and the full holding from which it is taken clearly marked thereon. Further information on ordnance survey maps can be found on the Ordnance Survey Ireland website at the following link: www.osi.ie. (A Google map is not sufficient for pre-planning purposes)
  • Letter of consent from the land/premises owner if the applicant does not own the land/premises in question
  • Any other information which the proposed applicant deems relevant in support of their proposals

Requirements for Previous Refusal applications

  • To submit your NEW PROPOSAL addressing the issues refused in previous application
  • A site location map to a scale of 1:2500 with the site and the full holding from which it is taken clearly marked thereon. Further information on ordinance survey maps can be found on above website.

A record in writing of consultations that relate to a proposed development shall be kept and become part of a pre-planning file which in turn will be incorporated into the full planning file if the application is subsequently made.
