Applications

An application for consent to open the public road must be accompanied by the following documentation:

• Two copies of a location map showing the extent and location of the works and any road crossings:
  
  For Rural Areas, a 1:2500 scale Site Location Map and 1:500 scale Detail Map are required.
  For Urban Areas 2 No 1:500 Detail Maps are required.

• Insurance Schedules / Signed Verification by Insurance Company / Broker:
  
  Insurance Policies MUST include a specific indemnity to the relevant licensing authority

Level of Indemnity Required:

    (a)      Public Liability                   €6.5 million

    (b)     Employers Liability            €12.7 million

Fee:

The cost of the consent / licence is determined by the Area Engineer and consists of an administrative fee, long term damage fee and refundable cash deposit. 

The fee is calculated on the following basis:

Administration Charge:     €200.00

Roads @ €15 per linear metre

Footpaths @ €10 per linear metre

Grass Margin @ €2.50 per linear metre

The Refundable Deposit will be returned after a period of 1 year commencing from the date that the applicant confirms to the Local Authority in writing, that the works have been completed, pending satisfactory restoration.

The minimum charge for a Road Opening Licence is €250.00
