Update on Water Shortages in the Dunshaughlin & East Meath Area
Ashbourne: No significant pressure problems in Ashbourne, low pressure can be expected in higher area i.e. Race Hill A new borehole at Mc Cabes (Mariott Hotel) is now operational and currently producing c. 25,000 litres per hour – this is being pumped into the Rath reservoir and reduces demand from Windmill Hill reservoirs.
Ratoath: The reservoirs in Windmill Hill are slowly recovering and water pressures in most areas in Ratoath should be returning to normal. A number of leaks (5 burst stop taps) have been identified and are currently being repaired.
Dunshaughlin: The Northern part of the village is now being supplied from the Windmill Hill – the pressure in the mains remains low and will take a few hours to recover, the length of time to recover will depend on the demand on the system but most area are expected to have restored supplies by afternoon. The main street including businesses & surrounding residential areas (except Northern area) should have a normal water supply (from Dunshaughlin WTP).
Kiltrough: The Civil and M&E contractor is on site today - the boreholes at Kiltrough are expected to come on line after lunch today – they should produce in excess of 2.5 Ml/day, which in turn should reduce the demand on Staleen WTP and provide additional supply for Windmill Hill.
