Meath Tourism 'Back to Basics' Networking Series

Over the last number of months, Meath Tourism  rolled out our series of networking events for our members under the theme of ‘Back to Basics’.

Our aim was to deliver a number of key selling & packaging tips in a fun, engaging and informative manner. We put together events which focused on re-learning some of the tools that we need to survive and prosper. These include selling and packaging; the value of our local festivals; developing links with tourism providers in other counties and getting to know in-depth the local tourism product.

Our first networking event of 2010, the North Meath FAM trip om April 22nd, was a great success and featured the following super product: Royal Breffni Tours - Home of the Crystal Maze; Loughcrew Gardens & Adventure Centre; Loughcew Cairns and Beyond the Blarney Tours.

The second event, featuring guest speaker Maria Moynihan Lee (Event Producer of Volvo Ocean race, St. Patrick's Festival, EU Day of Welcomes), attracted a great crowd to get some tips on running festivals from Maria!

The third event, featuring guest speaker Michelle Thornton (Managing Director, Hotel Solutions) proved to be a big favourite with the members with Michelle's inimitable style leaving all the attendees energised and positive. She provided excellent selling tips and even offered one lucky person the opportunity to be mentored one-on-one with her!

The fourth event took us to South Meath when the sun shone brightly as we took in Killeen Castle, Rathbeggan Lakes & Family Park, The Venue Theatre, Tattersalls Country House and Fairyhouse racecourse.

The final event took place in Kilkenny the ‘Marble City’ as our members took the opportunity to meet & network with tourism providers in the county. Featured product included The Gables Eco Homes; Team Dynamics Kilkenny; Kilkenny Castle; Kilkenny Design Centre & Castlecomer Discovery Park.

Our sincere thanks to all our members who supported the 'Back to Basics' series!
