Discover Meath Day Report on the Day's Events
The Discover Meath Day took place at Fairyhouse Racecourse on Sunday 19th July.
It was an early start for all of the exhibitors as they began set up at 8am on Sunday last, but despite that, everyone had a smile as they worked hard at their stands getting ready for the day ahead. Lots of sunshine during the morning encouraged the crowds to come along and by 12pm there were queues at the stiles with families, couples, race-goers and lots of children quietly anticipating the day's events.
There was something for everyone face painting, bouncing castles, ponies and donkeys. There was music, craft and cookery demos, massages, golf practice and a great day's racing. People travelled from Dublin, all over Meath, Kildare and one of the winners of the Freedom of Meath Competition came all the way from Derry to enjoy the day's festivities. The day went very well and as Fairyhouse announced the attendance numbers to be 4,000, almost triple similar race meeting numbers, the organisers of Failte Ireland, Meath Tourism and Fairyhouse breathed a sigh of relief for a job well done.
Here is a sample of the day's activities, enjoy...
