Summer Workshops from Beyond the Blarney
Beyond the Blarney is based at the foot of Sliabh na Caillí, (the Witches Mountain) where, for 5,000 years the Megalithic Tombs have kept their silent watch across the rolling plains of north west Meath. From there our Tours and Workshops unravel Ireland through the ages - from the pre-history of the megalithic era, through the coming of the Christians, the devastation of the Reformation and ravages of the Great Famine right through to modern day Ireland.
We have created short, intensive educational experiences which will focus on providing a comprehensive understanding of critical moments, monuments and movements in Irish history. The tours are a creative mix of experiential learning combined with inputs from experts in various fields of Irish studies. Typically tours will begin with morning workshops on a particular topic, followed by field trips to ancient and historic sites, museums and interpretive centres
We can move from the magic of the Hag’s Chair to the three hundred year banishment of the Children of Lir in nearby Lough Derravaragh. We’ll take you from the wonder of Fore to the site of the ancient Tailteann Games - a precursor of the modern Olympics.
It’s all out there - Beyond the Blarney
