100 places on specialised training courses for jobseekers
Meath Partnership has been successful in securing funding through the Labour Market Activation Fund to offer significant opportunities for retraining and upskilling in the areas of Eco-tourism, e-business, Renewable Energy; specifically Wood Energy and Biomass increasing people’s skills levels and job prospects.
Meath Partnership will be offering FETAC Level 5 and 6 training programmes aimed at offering relevant skills to people who have become unemployed in Co. Meath and are in receipt of Jobseeker’s Benefit or Allowance payment for three (3) consecutive months or more. Priority will be given to those who were previously employed in declining industries such as construction, retail and manufacturing within the county.
Eco-tourism is rapidly emerging as an important agri-diversification and alternative land use activity in Meath, capable of sustaining employment; supporting new business ventures; and increasing investment in remote locations. The course in Eco-tourism and e-business will cover subjects such as: e-Business and the internet in modern business; ethics in eco-tourism; developing eco-tourism products and services; business management; marketing and branding. Courses will be interactive and will also have a work experience component. Those who successfully complete this course will receive a FETAC Level 5 Certificate in E-Business and a Certificate in Ecotourism.
Participants on the courses will be supported by Meath Partnership in terms of career development, CV and interview skills and preparation, and personal development. Train the Trainer, a FETAC Level 6 trainer course qualification, which gives successful participants the opportunity to become FAS registered trainers, will also be available to participants on the Wood Energy and Biomass Training Programme. Training will be designed with the learner in mind and will provide training in an informal and participative learning environment. Individual learner supports and mentoring will be available throughout the training cycle to build confidence among learners and ensure personal progression.
Upon successful completion of the programme participants will be equipped to pursue career opportunities and further studies in the emerging fields of Renewable Energy, e-Business and Eco-Tourism. Training will commence in September in Kells, Co. Meath. Training will be provided within a newly developed training facility supported by Meath Partnership which is located in the Kells Business Park, County Meath convenient to the N2 and adequately served by public transport.
