Co-operation Ireland Award for Dunshaughlin Village
Dunshaughlin took 2nd place (jointly with Bailieborough) in the All-Island Co-operation Ireland Pride of Place Competition held in Wexford earlier this month. The competition recognises and celebrates the vital contributions that community partnerships make to society. The focus is on people coming together to shape, change and enjoy all that is good about their local area. The competition specifically recognises the involvement of the local community in all aspects of rural and urban regeneration including promoting social cohesion, involvement in planning, the promotion of heritage and environmental awareness. Last July judges visited Dunshaughlin and met with clubs, groups and individuals, and a presentation demonstrating how our village works together to enhance the local community was given by Naoise Blake. The judges were then taken on a tour of the village.
This award adds to the large number of awards for the village this year which include three Co. Meath Pride of Place Awards, the Meath Tourism & Business Award for the Dunshaughlin Harvest Festival, the EBS Community Achievement Award for the local community newsletter and several Dunshaughlin Community Awards for local groups, clubs and businesses.
