Rathcore Golf Club

Rathcore Golf and Country Club

Rathcore Golf Course may be described as parkland but this would not do it justice.  It is nice to find a really good course that doesn't have 8000 in its sights, but don't be lulled - extra long it may not be, but it will test your game, especially around the greens. It has numerous natural springs that enable 12 of the holes to have water features. Add to this rolling hills, numerous mature trees, yellow furze and strong historical background and you indeed have a golf course that can match any other for class. Under direction of Mel Flanagan, this course has been moulded by Mick Lyons with emphasis on retaining the inherent charm of the surrounding area.

The magnificently constructed circular clubhouse draws its inspiration from the ring forts located on the course. It has been cleverly sunk below the level of adjoining 18th fairway, leaving only the roof, upper floor and veranda visble from the course.
