Thomas Diem's work

Thomas Diem is a second generation potter based in Ashbourne, Co. Meath. Brought up with the traditional skills, he then went on to complete the pottery skills course run by the Crafts Council of Ireland. After spending some time in other potteries, he is now producing his own unique range of contemporary ceramics.

  
Thomas Diem is one of Ireland's leading young designers.  His work combines traditional pottery skills with the contemporary and understated styles of today.  Thomas Diem Pottery has become synonymous with today's young and energetic Ireland.  An ideal addition to any home or professional environment, his work is to be found in hotels, corporate offices and top design and craft outlets.

Biography

Born in Queens, New York in 1969, Thomas Diem was immersed in the world of  pottery and ceramics from a very young age.  His father, a classically trained ceramicist,  came to Ireland in the late seventies, settling the family in the  village of Malahide, just north of Dublin City. 

Early days studying under leading Irish potters acted both as an education  and an incitement for Thomas to find his own individual style.  After honing his skills with the Craft Council of Ireland, Thomas struck out on his own in 1997 with his line of pottery catering for the new, design conscious Irish market.  Since that time, Thomas Diem Pottery has become a staple of Interior Design and Giftware catalogues, and his work is available in Design Centres nationwide.
