Commercial Rates - How to Pay

Rates are a Commercial Charge levied by Local Authorities on the occupiers of commercial and industrial property. Local Authorities collect rates based on property valuations issued by the Valuation Office.

2024 Rates

County Meath Rates for 2024

You will receive a Rates Bill, informing you of your commercial rates for the coming year. The amount is due on receipt of the rates bill.

How to get started

  • Enter your customer number and request a temporary password which will be posted to your customer address.
  • When you receive the temporary password, return to the portal and complete your registration.

Direct Debit

To pay by Direct Debit, simply complete the direct debit form supplied with your rate demand, and send to Local Authority office.

Update: We wish to inform you that from January 2024 the direct debits will be processed for all our customers over a 10 month period, March to December, on the 2nd Wednesday of every month.

How to get started

  • Download the Local Authority Payment App from either Google Play for Android devices or the App Store for iOS devices.
  • Enter your customer number and request a temporary password which will be posted to your customer address.
  • When you receive the temporary password, return to the App and complete your registration.

Arrangement with Revenue Collector

A Payment Plan may be arranged with your Revenue Collector / Account Manager.

 

Cash Desk

You can pay at the cash desk at your Local Authority office.

 

Cheque

You can send a cheque to your Local Authority office.

 

Debit or Credit Card (only available at Cash desk Buvinda House and Cash desk Trim Area Office)

Telephone your Local Authority office to pay by debit or credit card.

 

Payments Cards

You can pay at any Post Office or PayPoint outlet.

Responsibility for Payment of Rates

The occupier of a premises is legally liable for payment of Rates on the premises. If the occupier vacates the property, Meath County Council must be notified. Please See Property Transfer Duty - Section 11 for more information

 

Non-Payment of Rates

Failure to pay your Rates by the specified period will result in legal proceedings being issued, followed by a Court Summons. The Council may register a judgment mortgage on the property, or in extreme cases apply for a committal order.
