EU: You Create  

A digital creative competition

To celebrate Europe Day, Meath County Council Library Service is delighted to launch EU: You Create, a digital creative competition open to all school-aged children between the ages of 5 and 18 in Meath.

EU: You Create invites children to celebrate the diverse cultures, landscapes and identities of the countries that make up the European Union. 

So, join us and let’s get creative about Ireland and Europe! 

Who can enter? 

This competition is open to all school-aged children in Meath. All entries will be displayed on Meath County Library Service’s website, and social media channels.

Age Categories 

There are two age categories: 5-12 years and 13 +

Prizes

A winner and runner-up will be chosen in each age category. Winners will receive a €100 voucher and runners-up will receive a €50 voucher. Winners will be invited to attend their local library branch to collect their prize.

Competition Themes 

Choose from one of the themes below and share the information that you learn about your chosen theme in the most colourful and creative way you can!

You can tell your story with photos, a painting, a poster, a collage, a poem, a song, a short story, a sculpture, a comic strip or even a video!

• European Union Country Factfile

Choose any EU member state and tell us a story about that country. It could be about their culture, history or currency... whatever you think is fun and interesting.

Or

• Spotlight on a tradition from an EU member state

Select a tradition from a European Union member country and share a tale about its rich history and cultural legacy.

Or

• My favourite place in the EU

Select a European Union landmark that you admire – whether it's a place you wish to visit or have already explored – and share its story and reasons why you love it.

How To Enter 

Entries can only submitted via our website via the link on this page. No physical entries will be accepted.

All mediums and styles, such as creative writing, painting, scultpture, photopraphy, digital art, video, lego construction, model making and mixed media will be accepted. 

In the case of 2D or 3D models or artwork please take a photograph of your entry to submit. For video and creative writing you can upload .mp4 or .doc files.

Entry Formats

• 2D Artwork (painting/photo/digital art/mixed media etc) - Submit a high resolution photograph of your entry
• 3D Model/Sculpture - Submit a high resolution photograph of your entry
• Video - Submit a video with a maximum duration of 1 minute
• Creative Writing - Maximum length of two A4 pages

Judging Criteria 

Entries will be judged based on creativity, skill, and interpretation of theme.
