The Climate Action Section works with departments, businesses, communities, and residents to make this vision a reality, enacting change inside and outside the Council.

Community Climate Action Programme Funding Streams

The Community Climate Action Programme fund is an initiative of the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment. It provides support to community groups to undertake projects that help build low-carbon, sustainable communities and contribute to national climate and energy targets.

EcoChic Clothing Swap Kits

As part of our EcoChic Campaign, Meath Climate Action Section is delighted to announce the launch of our Clothing Swap Kits to help you and your community become more sustainable with your clothing!

GAA Green Club Programme

The Green Club programme will help clubs to identify and implement simple measures to protect our natural heritage and secure a sustainable future for our local communities.

In4Green URBACT Project

Meath County Council has been successfully selected as a project partner in the In4Green network under the URBACT IV programme.

Local Environmental Action Fund (LEAF)

The LEAF Fund is a national initiative supporting community-led environmental and climate action projects. With over €3 million in funding across all local authority areas, the programme empowers communities to work together to improve their local environment.

The fund encourages collaboration between community groups and local stakeholders—ensuring projects deliver lasting environmental and social benefits.

Sustainable Sports Programme

The Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment has launched a new Sustainable Sports Programme to support sports organisations in adopting environmentally sustainable practices.

Trim Air Quality Project

The Trim Project was originally funded through the Department of Rural and Community Development’s Digital Innovation Programme in the amount of €163,518. Meath County Council co-funded an additional 20%.
