School Library Support

The main objective is to aid in the development of post-primary schools libraries throughout the county. The scheme is open to all post-primary schools in Meath.

Benefits:

  • We order stock for your school library and the school benefits from the library discount of 10% – 15%.
  • Items are delivered to the school shelf-ready with a school label and classification number if required.
  • Recommended reading lists can be requested from a professional librarian.
  • Training is available for students involved in the running of their libraries.  We cover the roles of school & professional librarians, the administration, maintenance and marketing of the library service and basic research skills. This is an ideal opportunity for students interested in future library work.
  • The school can request advice or suggestions from a professional librarian on layout, design and development of their School Library Service.
  • A free reference book is given to all schools involved in the scheme.

Post-Primary Schools Annual EU Debate Competition

All post-primary schools in Meath are invited to take part in our Annual EU Debate Competition. Heats take place from February to April with the finals being held at The European Commission Centre in Grange. The prize for the winning school will be a trophy for the winning team for the year along with 40 Euro Book Vouchers for each of the four team members and a 500 Euro prize for the school. We require 4 students from each school, one of whom will be the team captain.

Our free eServices provide material which can complement the curriculum in many subject areas and there are learning opportunities for both students and teachers.  Download the eServices for Post Primary Schools guide to find out more. We have also compiled a summary with links to a range of Simultaneous Access Titles that are available on our eBook platform BorrowBox.  These books can be borrowed by multiple users at the same time, making them perfect for a Book Club, Reading Group or as a Class Read.
