Turas Scoile : An Online Traditional Song Workshop with Aileen Lambert

From 9.00 am on Friday, 12th June to 12.00 am on Sunday, 14th June 2020

Traditional singer Aileen Lambert has a lovely song in the English and Irish languages to share with you! This newly composed song in the traditional style was written by Máire Ní Chróinín and describes a Turas Scoile (School Tour) with a difference – turned into sea creatures by Teacher’s magic wand your class goes on an underwater tour! Aileen breaks the song down line by line and follows it with a sing-through complete with subtitles, so the whole family can sing along. Aileen is accompanied by her daughter Nellie (age 10).

Aileen delivers traditional song workshops in schools with the Heritage-in-Schools Scheme and Music Generation to all ages from Junior Infants to 6th class. She is currently working along with her husband Michael Fortune on the 'Songs for Our Children' Project, with support from Local Authorities, Galway 2020 and the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance.

Suitable for children aged 8 – 12 years
