FREE Public WIFI launches in Ratoath Municipal District

Liam Keane & Associates was the scene for the launch of the WIFI4EU network across Ratoath Municipal District on June 1, 2022.
Meath County Council Cathaoirleach Cllr. Sean Drew and Cllr. Nick Killian, Cathaoirleach of Ratoath Municipal District launched the network along with Liam Keane of Liam Keane & Associates, Cllr. Gerry O’Connor and Cllr. Damien O’Reilly.
Cathaoirleach Cllr. Sean Drew observed, “this is our largest area launched on the WIFI4EU network adding Dunshaughlin, Ratoath and Dunboyne to the deployment. With the network already launched in Kells, Navan, Oldcastle and Ashbourne we have most of our major town centres covered providing free public WIFI for residents and visitors alike.”
The WIFI4EU programme sees the investment of over € 120 Million across the European Union to see the introduction of freely accessible high speed across centres of human life. Additional funding has been provided by the Department of Rural & Community Development to see the network expanded to cover more towns across the County.
Cllr. Nick Killian commented, “I’d like to thank Meath County Council and the funding agencies in their efforts to improve connectivity options for residents in Ratoath Municipal District. As we wait for the National Broadband Plan to deliver in the area, residents with out access have at least some options to be able to get online.”
Cllr. O’ Connor welcomed the delivery of services into Ratoath and Dunboyne as well as Dunshaughlin. Cllr. O’Reilly commended support received from traders.
The network work is available along Dunshaughlin from Peter’s, via Liam Keane & Associates and Barbers down as far as Vincent’s at the southern end of the town. In Ratoath it the network is covered from Ratoath Eyecare, Computer King and O’Neill CES in Moate House. In Dunboyne coverage extends from the Cunningham Funeral Homes (covering Dunboyne Playground), Your Local Pharmacy Dunboyne, Macken’s Butchers, ILTP in St. Albert’s House, the Crusty Corner and Frank & Honest Café covering the plaza area.
