National Fire Safety Week, October 4th to October 11th, 2021

Location
County-wide

National Fire Safety Week aims to enhance fire safety, particularly in the home.  This year the main theme is “Working Smoke Alarms Save Lives – Test Yours Weekly” or ‘Sábhálann aláraim deataigh atá ag obair i gceart saolta – déan tástáil orthu go rialta’.

As the country responded to Covid-19 we spent more time at home.  It was more important than ever that we were all aware of the steps we can take to protect ourselves and our homes from fire. Now, as society begins to open back up, and we return to work and education, it is important we don’t get complacent.

This year Fire Safety Week will be focusing on fire safety in the home, encouraging all homes to have smoke alarms and to test them weekly. It is hoped to help the public build and maintain good Fire Safe habits as routines return to some sort of normality.

Meath County Council Fire and Rescue Service is promoting this year’s National Fire Safety Week across their social media channels by sharing awareness messages throughout the week, the campaign can be viewed on the Meath Fire Service and Meath County Council Twitter pages, videos can also be viewed on the Meath County Council YouTube channel
