Following a major investment in excess of €2.8m funded by Transport Infrastructure Ireland, Meath County Council has commenced works on the N2 and N51 roads in Slane, which will necessitate road closures on the N2 over a number of weeks. Road diversions will be in place and local access and deliveries will be maintained.

Details

The overall aim of the works is to improve road safety, carry out road reconstruction and resurfacing, repair and improve existing drainage and to increase the width of right turn lanes at junctions.

 

Works are divided into six sections:  

Section 1 – N2 from junction with N51 (The Square) to New Graveyard on Collon Rd.

  • Duration of works - 5 weeks - from 29th July to 25th August
  • Stop/Go traffic management system in place during this period
  • Full Road Closure from 12th - 21st August – Local Access only

 

Section 2 – N2 from junction with N51 (The Square) to south of Slane Bridge

  • Duration of works - 9 days - from 22nd - 30th August
  • Full Road Closure during this period – Local Access only

 

Section 3 – N2 from South of Fennor Cross to South of Slane Bridge

  • Duration of works - 6 weeks - from 2nd September to 6th October
  • Stop/Go traffic management system in place

 

Section 4 – N51 from the junction with the N2 (The Square) towards Drogheda

  • Duration of works - 2½ weeks - from 2nd - 15th September
  • Stop/Go traffic management system in place

 

Section 5 – N51 from the junction with the N2 (The Square) towards Navan

  • Duration of works - 5 weeks - from 16th September to 13th October
  • Stop/Go traffic management system in place
  • May require N51 Road Closure from 16th September for 5 days

 

Section 6 – N2/N51 Junction (The Square)

  • Duration of works - 4 days - from 14th October
  • Stop/Go traffic management system in place

 

These sections will be followed by a Skid Resistance Surfacing on downhill sections of the N2 and on the approaches to the traffic lights. 

Night time work may be required from time to time.
