Outdoor Activities and Sports

Walking, cycling, golf and more, all in the great outdoors.

Whether it is a gentle riverside walk or hiking up to dramatic ruins, the great outdoors is where the Boyne Valley can be best appreciated. Bike or stroll along the Royal Canal Greenway, a section of which passes through south Meath, or paddle along the Boyne Blueway from the medieval town of Trim to Bective Abbey.

There are many tracks and trails right across the Boyne Valley, from woodland walks to historic routes. Wide open beaches at Laytown and Bettystown offer plenty of room to stretch the legs, whilst the thrill of the gallops and jumps may be witnessed at the many racecourses in the region.

For a gentler pace, Meath boasts numerous high-quality golf courses, designed by noted professionals.

In Meath you will find superb game, coarse and sea angling. It will satisfy the expectations of specialist, experienced and novice anglers alike.
