Adaptation Grants for Private Home Owners

Housing adaptation grants for older people and people with a disability in adapting their homes

Applications will be prioritised on the basis of medical need and will be subject to the availability of funding. 

There are three grants available for older people and people with disabilities to help make their home safer and easier to get around. The grants are:

 

  • Housing Adaptation Grant for People with a Disability 
  • Mobility Aids Grant 
  • Housing Aid for Older People Grant

 

Applicants who are seeking a grant for anything that is available from the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) e.g. roof insulation, wall insulation, boiler and heating control upgrades, solar panels, etc should contact the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) on 1850 927000 for more information, as these works will not be grant aided under the Housing Grants Schemes.

Housing Adaptation Grant

The Housing Adaptation Grant for People with a Disability is available for works which are reasonably necessary to make a house more suitable a person with a disability who has an enduring physical, sensory, mental health or intellectual impairment.

Housing Grant for Older People

This grant is for people 66 years old or more to do essential repairs, so that they can continue to live in their own home. Sometimes this grant can be paid to people under 66 years old, but only in cases of hardship.

This grant is for older people and/or people with a disability who find it hard to move around their home due to mobility issues.
