Artist's Biography

Ann Meldon Hugh was born in Dublin in 1952 and graduated from the National College of Art and Design in Dublin in 1975, specialising in sculpture. She currently lives in Kells, Co. Meath. She has been working as a full-time sculptor since 1989 and has been commissioned to complete many public sculptures including “Ferdia and Chuculainn” in Ardee, Co. Louth, “Gateway to Meath” in Clonee, “Silver Brosna” in Co. Westmeath, “JFK” in Co. Wexford and “Mol an Óige”, a full-sized bronze sculpture in Athboy, Co. Meath. She works in bronze, stainless steel, stone and ceramic. Her studio work is a personal response to her environment and experience. In 1997, Ann Meldon Hugh was awarded the Meath County Council Tyrone Guthrie Centre Regional Bursary.
