Open Water Swimming

At The Pool
- Always obey the lifeguard
- Know the rules and obey them
- Shower and use the toilet before entering the pool
- Check the Depth Signs
At the River, Lake or Sea
- Never swim alone
- Never swim in a place you don’t know (Ask a local for advice on tides and currents)
- Look for Safety Equipment or Notices
- Look for warning flags and obey them
- Swim parallel to the shore
- Never use inflatables (They can float away)
- If you see someone in trouble get help - Do not try to help yourself unless you have completed a recognised Life Saving Course
- Swim between the red and yellow Flags (Lifeguard on patrol)
- Never Swim if there is a red Flag
