Summer Stars Reading Adventure 2025

All children throughout the country are invited to join the adventure and to enjoy the fun and pleasure of reading over the summer.

Summer Stars is non-competitive and every child who reads even one book/ ebook is regarded as having completed the programme – and it’s all completely free!

So get down to your library and register for the Reading Adventure from June 3rd.

Step 1: Sign up and get your Summer Stars Reader Pack:

This year's pack contains your

  • Reading Tracker/Activity Book.
  • a Seeded Paper Bookmark - Made from recycled paper, the Seed Bookmark is eco-friendly and biodegradable and leaves only flowers behind! After you use the bookmark, you can tear it up and place it into soil. Then wait a few weeks
and watch as is it transforms into a wildflower garden

Step 2: Read, read, read!

You can borrow books from your library, read ebooks, emagazines, emagazines from BorrowBox. You can even listen to audiobooks too!

Keep track of your progress in your Reading Booklet and get it stamped each time you visit the library.

Step 3: Get your Reading Rewards

Reading Reward: Lucky Dip

When you visit to get your Reading Booklet stamped you will get to pick a reward from our Lucky Dip Box that's filled with mini surprises (while stocks last).

Lucky Dips are limited to 1 per week per child to make sure everyone gets a turn.

Reading Reward: Prize Draws

Everyone who participates in the Summer Stars Reading Adventure will be entered into a draw in their local library for a Prize Pack at the end of August.

There will also be a special bonus draw for Tickets to Emerald Park at the end of July.

Reading Reward: Homework Pass

For the third year running we are partnering with Meath Primary Schools to encourage children to read.

We have asked all the schools in the county to allow us to award a Homework Pass to any child participating in our Reading Adventure. Each library will have a list of participating schools so check when you register if your school has signed up to this initiative.

Homework Passes will be awarded at the end of the summer with Reading Certificates.

See the list of schools who have signed up.

Summer Stars Events Programme

We will have lots of free events for children during July and August so make sure to book in at your local library for some fun activities and entertainment.
