Cruinniú na nÓg Schools Programme 2024: Eanna Ní Lamhna

Closed Event for Primary Schools

Do you really know all about the common plants and animals that you see every day.  Spiders are cannibals. Frogs hibernate at the bottom of ponds - How come they don't drown. Kingfishers dive into rivers to catch fish - but they cannot swim at all.  Flies eat meat - but how can they manage this without teeth? Why did people think bats were blinds when they never crash into anything?

Eanna Ni Lamhna has all the answers to these and lots of other questions in her book Wonders of the Wild. She will let you in on the secrets at her workshops and indeed you can ask her about things you have noticed about wildlife that puzzled you ...... like why are there no wild red flowers?

Suitable for 3rd-6th Class

Duration 45 mins plus questions afterwards

Eanna is a botanist by profession and a zoologist by passion.

She is publicly on the side of the environment as evidenced by her stint as President of An Taisce from 2004-2009 and more recently as President of the Tree Council of Ireland.
