From Wednesday, December 6, community organisations in Meath with an interest in helping to address climate action in their local areas can apply for a Department of Environment, Climate and Communications grant fund that will be administered by Meath County Council.

Under the Community Climate Action Programme, Meath County Council will support small, medium, and large-scale projects that will shape and build low-carbon, sustainable communities through a fund of €811,000.  Projects must align with the theme: ‘Building Low Carbon Communities’ with additional funding also available under the theme ‘Shared Island Community Action.’

Speaking about the grant fund, Anne O’Brien, Community Climate Action Officer with Meath County Council, said, “This is a fantastic opportunity for local community organisations which will enable them to contribute to national climate and energy targets. This fund will support small and large, rural and urban communities to take climate action”.
