As part of the Meath County Council’s Keep Well Campaign, Meath Arts Office is delighted to present In the Midst of Masters; a mindful exploration of art.

 

Featuring works currently held in the Meath County Council Public Art Collection, this art and mindfulness series invites you to focus your attention in a guided survey of works by some of the foremost figures in 20th Century Irish art.

In the Midst of Masters features a mix of audio, text and video presentation and will be available online in a three part series throughout the month of May.

Including artwork by Maurice MacGonigal, Norah McGuinness, Anne Butler Yeats and more, In the Midst of Masters examines the important, valuable and varied resource that is the Meath County Council Public Art Collection and how it can be used as a tool to help reduce stress and ease anxiousness through mindful engagement.

 

Episode 1 looks at the Covid 19 context and how this has affected our cultural lives.  It discusses the ways in which arts engagement can be of benefit during this time and delves into works by Henry Healy RHA, Christopher Keating, George Campbell RHA and Lancelot Bayly held within the Meath County Council Public Art Collection.

 

Episode 2 speaks of the benefits of collecting art on behalf of a public and looks in detail at work by Maurice MacGonigal PRHA, Countess Ann Griffin Bernstorff, Ernest McDowell and Norah McGuinness HRHA all found in the Meath County Council Public Art Collection.

 

Episode 3the final part in this art and mindfulness series, looks at the two distinct factions in 20th Century Irish Art. It discusses the important role artists play in society and explores work by Anne Butler Yeats, Mícheál deBúrca, Kathleen Fox RHA and Margaret Stokes from the Meath County Council Public Art Collection.
