Meath County Council Shortlisted for 10 Projects in the 2025 Chambers Ireland Excellence in Local Government Awards

Meath County Council is thrilled to announce that it has been shortlisted for ten prestigious projects in the 2025 Chambers Ireland Excellence in Local Government Awards. These awards celebrate the outstanding efforts of local authorities across Ireland in improving communities and enhancing the quality of life for residents.

The shortlisted projects from Meath County Council include:

  1. Siamsa Glas Festival – Celebrating Irish Language & Culture
  2. The Meath Befriending Network – Age Friendly Initiative
  3. ‘Local Lens’ – A podcast from Meath County Council – Communications
  4. Empowering Futures: Entrepreneurship Programme for People with Disabilities – Diversity & Inclusion
  5. Boyne Valley to Lakelands Greenway – Health & Wellbeing
  6. Heritage Led Regeneration Project in Market Square, Navan – Heritage and Built Environment
  7. Live Streaming of the 2024 Local Elections – Municipal District Initiative
  8. Meath Community Amenity Project Scheme – Municipal District Initiative
  9. Empowering Entrepreneurs: The Lunch and Learn Roadshow Initiative – Promoting Economic Development
  10. East Meath Civic Centre - Bettystown Library – Urban Revival 

These projects showcase the council's commitment to fostering a vibrant and inclusive community through innovative programming, cultural celebration, and sustainable initiatives.

The Excellence in Local Government Awards, sponsored by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, will take place on Thursday, 27th November, where winners from the 26 counties will be announced. This event will recognise and honour the exceptional work conducted by local authorities in improving the lives of citizens across Ireland. Beginning in 2004, the awards fall across fifteen categories, including Local Authority of the Year, for delivered projects by local authorities.
