Protect People who Work on Roads

Location
County-wide

Every year across the Country, there are hundreds of incidents at road works which put road workers and road users’ lives at risk and can result in death or serious injury. This has spurred Meath County Council to raise awareness around road worker safety within our County.

We ask road users to slow down when you approach and travel through roadworks, and pay close attention to the temporary traffic management arrangements that are in place to warn, instruct and guide you through or around the work site.

Help keep us safe, to keep you safe.

Advice for Road Users

If you drive a vehicle, at some point you’ll drive through roadworks. Follow these safety tips:

  • When you see the "orange and black," be extra careful. Follow the temporary road signage in place.
  • Adhere to the speed limit on display.
  • Flagmen will help direct you along the way.
  • Stay alert for road workers and machinery.
  • Slow down and expect the unexpected. Keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front.
  • DO NOT BREAK THE RED LIGHT OR IGNORE A FLAGMAN’S STOP SIGN

When it comes to keeping our road workers and road users safe, we're all on the roads together and it takes real collaboration from everyone to ensure that nobody comes to harm.

We all deserve respect and a safe working environment, each person who works on our roads are part of our community and are somebody’s father, mother, sister, brother.
