Aistear

Aistear

Aistear is the new early childhood curriculum framework for children from birth to six years in Ireland.

Because early childhood marks the beginning of children's lifelong learning journeys, this framework is called Aistear, the Irish word for journey.

Aistear can be used in a range of settings such as children’s own homes, child minding settings, crèches, nurseries, playgroups, pre-schools, naíonraí, Early Start Units and in infant classes in primary schools.

Please check www.ncca.ie for more details.

Aistear book Collections

We have book sets for each of the four themes of the Aistear framework.

  • Communicating
  • Wellbeing
  • Identity & Belonging
  • Exploring & Thinking

The book sets are available for loan to Early learning Centres and Primary Schools in Meath. Each set comprises 20-25 books, supporting one of the four themes and can be borrowed for a period of 6 weeks. The list of core books for each collection is available to download on this page.

These sets are available for loan on a block loan library card, which is available free of charge to pre-school facilitators and Junior Infant teachers.

You just need to drop in during library opening hours and join up.
