Summer Stars 2025: Family dance mat workshop with Our Kids Code

This workshop offers a delightful and interactive opportunity for parents and children to discover STEM and coding together! While activities are designed for ages 7-12, all children are encouraged to participate. In this two-hour workshop, your family will create a dance mat using Scratch coding, Makey Makey and paper plates. 

Please note that each family will need to bring their own laptop for the workshop. 

If your family does not have access to a laptop then please alert library staff and we may be able to arrange a laptop for you for the duration of the workshop.

***Every child must have their parent or legal guardian with them for the whole workshop. Another relative or childminder cannot take the place of the parent or legal guardian.***

Our Kids Code is a family creative computing club where parents and primary school age children work together on STEM projects. There’s no experience necessary and no tests – just lots of fun.

Duration: 2 hours

For families with children aged 7 - 12 & accompanying adult

This event is part of our Summer Stars Reading Programme and there is a limit of 2 workshops per child.

Event participants need to be members of the library and signed up to Summer Stars. If you are not a member of the library but would like you join we can sign you up on the day of the event.
