Ashbourne R135 Ashbourne Main Street

Meath County Council have delivered 3km of continuous Active Travel infrastructure along the R135 Ashbourne Main Street, from the Pillo Hotel Roundabout to the Alderbrook junction south of Ashbourne town center. 1.2km of Active Travel infrastructure has also been delivered along the Milltown Road which seamlessly connects to the Active Travel infrastructure on the R135 Main Street.

Benefits of the scheme include the following:

Upgrade existing signalized junction,
New cycle tracks/lanes.
Pedestrian & cyclist friendly treatments to minor arm junctions.
Footpath improvements throughout. Dished footpaths and tactile paving at crossing locations.
Reduced traffic lane widths (3m wide lanes) to encourage low traffic speeds.
New carriageway surface course.
New landscaping and street furniture.
New public lighting.
