HSE and Meath County Council Launch Video Series on Total Communication, Supported by Meta

County-wide

Meath HSE Speech and Language Therapy Department, in partnership with Meath County Council and with support from Meta, is proud to announce the launch of a new video series promoting the message that communication is “beyond words”.

This video series highlights the importance of recognising and embracing all forms of communication. It showcases the use of communication boards installed in playgrounds across Meath since 2021. The boards are designed to support children and families by providing alternative ways to express needs, feelings, and ideas.  These boards reinforce the message that communication takes many forms, and every method is valid.

“We believe that communication is not just about speaking; it’s about connection,” said Kim Tucker, HSE Speech and Language Therapy Manager. “These videos celebrate diversity in communication, helping to foster more inclusive environments where everyone’s voice can be heard, no matter how they communicate.”

Meath County Council shares this commitment to inclusivity, recognising the role these playground communication boards play in promoting understanding and acceptance of different methods of communication.

“Inclusivity is at the heart of everything we do at Meath County Council”, said Chief Executive of Meath County Council Kieran Kehoe. “We are proud to work with the HSE with support from Meta to help amplify the message that every method of communication is important.”

Meta’s support has been instrumental in bringing this project to life, helping to share the message that communication is for everyone.

Commenting on the funding, Aoife Flynn, Head of Community Development at Meta said: “At Meta we are focused on building the future of human connection, and we are delighted to support this innovative new project which will continue to strengthen opportunities for the community to communicate and connect with each other in new ways.”

The video series is now available on Facebook and Instagram. We invite everyone to watch, share, and join us in embracing the message that all communication is valid—because communication truly goes beyond words.
